Punch up the flowers

Well it is summer after all, so this quilt is a happy reminder of these warm days. This beautiful wall hanging was quilted using fun orange/purple King Tut variegated thread on the flowers and leaves. The background was done in a small loop meander with black thread. The borders had the variegated thread in the same loop meander. All in all, a very sunny warm weather quilt! Now get out there and enjoy the hot weather while it lasts! (Hey, this is Oregon after all!) Happy quilting!

Flower Quilt

Flower Power!

Flower Power!

I enjoy doing custom work, and this quilt, a beautiful example of machine applique, gave me another opportunity. The small stippling around the flowers really make them pop. I try to match the thread color to the background as much as possible so the flower is emphasized, not the stitching. I stitched in the ditch between the border and the main body of the quilt. The border has a leaf vine and curl treatment. Between all sixteen flower blocks there is also a leaf vine and curl that swirls around. Happy quilting!

Fun with Flowers

Today I worked on a quilt that was a customer’s very first quilt. How fun is that? I wanted to make it special, yet affordable for her.  For the design we came up with a basic meander, except for the small white border where I put a flower and leaf meandering vine. Not sure how well this will show up, so I’ve added a photo of the back of the quilt as well. I think it turned out really cute! Happy quilting!
