Dog Quilt

I made this quilt in memory of my Alaskan Malamute, “River.” It took me awhile to make this, but it finally got done few months ago. I chose purples because River was such a “girly-girl.” The quilt was constructed “as I went,” which is to say that I had no plan, I just kept adding sections as it progressed. Her name is quilted at the top in the border. I put flannel on the back so it is really snuggly and cozy – just like the hugs I used to get from her.

It was a very therapeutic process. Picking out which photos to print, figuring out how to make the quilt…all the while I was thinking of what a great dog she was and all the fun we had.
