This Irish Chain quilt took some thought as to what to quilt on it. Shirley made it for a wedding present (for a nephew I think), and so I felt it should be special. After mulling over several different border treatments and overall patterns, I decided to focus on the white areas. So I came up with this feather and curl pattern which is in each of the white areas, and a curl around the inner border. The outer border has giant feathers and then a motif in each corner with feathers as well. The rest of the chains are done in a “Terry Twist” pattern. Three colors of thread! Hope the newlyweds like it!
I love how you’ve made the swirls tuck so neatly into the triangles around the edges. Beautiful job!

Thank you! Each quilt deserves something special. Sometimes it’s hard to decide, but in the end, the quilt top “speaks” to me….all I have to do is be willing to listen.
