This one or that one? Which fabric to choose? How big to make it? How simple or complicated should it be? Will there be “quilt math” involved? Yikes. Now it’s really getting complicated. Oh dear.
These, and more, are the questions I ask myself when I’m working on a quilt. Since I like to design my own quilts, there is always something to ponder and consider. So I thought it would be fun to document the process. And if you have thoughts or suggestions, please send them my way!
So here goes! The customer chose blues, browns, and greens, and here is where the quilt is at right now. In Stage 1 I chose the fabrics and the design. In Stage 2 I’m making the blocks and deciding the layout.
Ooo, this frightens me! I’m a planner and follower. Allowing myself to ‘wing it’ is too scary. I do admire those who can let themselves go, design-wise. Wow.

And that’s what makes the quilt world so complex…there are as many ways to do something as there are people involved!
