We had some really fun entries in the Challenge Contest this year. Lots of fish themed quilts obviously. Check out pictures of all of the entries here.
A little bit of creativity every day!

Today is the day! The day we’ve all been waiting for. The 11th annual quilt show opens today. It’s a two day show, so you can swing by today from 10 am – 4 pm or tomorrow from 10 am – 3 pm.
The quilts and items above in the slideshow are just some of the beautiful works of art we are displaying in this year’s “Annual Challenge.” Every year we select one fabric and each of the Pine Needlers makes something of their own choosing. And this year we’ve turned out a bounty of unique and amazing things.
And there is still a chance to purchase raffle tickets to this years stunning Pine Needler raffle quilt. The quilt will be raffled off tomorrow at about 5 pm, so make sure to buy some tickets so you have a chance to win it. If you don’t buy tickets, you won’t have ANY chance at all. Where’s the fun in that? And remember, all the proceeds go toward the town of Lowell: food pantry, library, firehall, etc. All good causes. The Pine Needlers work hard all year long to make this raffle quilt and show happen and we’d love to have you drop by.
Where? Lowell Grange Hall on 2nd Street in Lowell.
See you there!
So many blocks were turned in they had to make lots of quilts! In the photo at left, my block is in the 6th row, 5th from the left!
Check out all the Star Block Challenge quilts that were displayed at the Houston show last month.
And if you submitted a block, happy hunting!
I love star blocks and haven’t made one for awhile. So I sat down with my EQ6 software and did a quick design for a paper pieced star block. Here is my concept block. I thought it would look good with a blue-ish background and hot colors for the star points.
And here is my actual block…
So what are you waiting for? It’s just ONE block. You can do it! For more information about the challenge from the Quilts, Inc. website.
