2017 Christmas Tree has Arrived!

We went on our annual Christmas Tree excursion and once again we headed north to a nursery northwest of Kaiser. We got to take the car and trailer over the Wheatland Ferry across the Willamette! Very exciting stuff as this was our first ride across, which took about 5 minutes (if that).

This year we brought home a live 12 foot tall Cedrus Deodara “Aurea” and she is a beauty! We won’t bring her inside until just before Christmas and then we will decorate it with all the Star Trek ornaments (duh). She can only be inside for about a week. Then after the holidays she gets planted on the property somewhere.

It’s a very fun tradition, and hopefully good for the planet too. Happy holidays!

Quilt Donation to Hearts4Doxies

A friend of mine, Tamara,  volunteers at Hearts4Doxies, and like all volunteer organizations, they are trying to raise funds for their expenses. Although I don’t have this particular breed of dog, I do love dogs….all dogs (OK, maybe some cats too). And I think it’s so fantastic when people volunteer their time, energy, and money to help out a great cause.

They had their HOWLiday auction recently and this little quilt sold for $75 to a H4D supporter in Texas. Awesome! I hand-dyed many of the fabrics in this quilt as I was experimenting with dyeing quilting fabric.

So check out their Facebook page, and if you feel like it, send some support their way.

Happy HOWLidays! (Sorry, just had to write that.)
