Feathers & More Feathers

This quilt was calling out for something special. So something special is what it got! Lots of feathers; gosh I love feathers! The outer border and the inner border both have feathers. All the white area around the stars have feathers that spiral out from the center of each star. There is a “continuous curve” design that goes through all the squares that bisect the quilt. And just to top it off, each of the stars has a different motif. I used three colors of thread on the quilt so the thread color would not be too much on certain areas of the quilt. And keep these  quilts coming Gayle! Great job on this one.

Comfort Quilt

This quilt will have quite a history one day. Helen and her friends made it as a comfort quilt to be shared in their group when someone is ill. Although I hope they don’t have to use it too often, and too soon, it is a wonderful quilt that will no doubt spread comfort when needed. I was just thinking every quilt group could make one of these; especially as we all get older (and I was recently diagnosed with A.G.E. – yes, that’s right, age, as in I’m getting older…darn!). Women have a wonderful tendency to surround each other with love and support in times of crisis…and thank goodness for that!

Quilt Memories

This quilt has many memories. Chris and her sister worked on it over the years with their mom. Now that their mom is moving into a new stage in her life, it’s time to finish it up, or as Chris would say, “Get ‘er done!”  It’s such a beautiful and calming quilt, and when their girls look at it, hopefully they will remember all the good times with their mom.

In keeping with the feel of the original quilting – some of the quilting had been done – I did a 1/4″ stitch away from the seam in both directions. And then to add a little something, around the border and into the corners I did some feathers. It still has an old-fashioned feel, but with a little something special. Something special; just like the relationship between a mother and daughters.

Happy quilting!

No Minimum

Ann's Baby Quilt
Ann's Baby Quilt

I have no minimum for my longarm business. Sometimes I do tablerunners, sometimes small wall hangings.  This baby quilt is just 27″ x 28.” As I build my business, no job is too small! On the other hand, it isn’t cheap to have a small piece quilted; but I’m willing to do it. So if you have some small quilts in your stash that you just haven’t had a chance to finish, give me a jingle, I’d love to help you out and get them finished. Remember “done” is a good word!
