Turn your old sweaters into beautiful pillows!

Yes you can! This project was oh so easy. For those of you who are familiar with my “Kapow! Flower” method, this pillow was made pretty much the same way.

Check out the instructions in the Fall/Winter 2014 issue of MIY Magazine!

Happy pillow making!

The Fall/Winter 2014 issue of MIY Magazine is here!

So many great ideas to explore. So much fun to have. And it’s almost winter, so it’s time to hunker down and get some crafty time. Cuppa coffee anyone? Head over to the Make It Yourself Magazine Facebook page and check it out.

And while I like many craft and quilt magazines, this particular issue holds a special place in my heart because Sheila Sinclair Snyder of License to Quilt and I teamed up and created several of the upcycled sweater projects for this issue.

Last Fall we did a shopping trip to gather old sweaters. It was a hoot and a half! If you haven’t visited Value Village in Springfield, Oregon….then put it on your must-do list. Then we were off to the races designing and laughing and creating.

So over the next few days, I’ll feature a couple of the projects we submitted. So as part of your winter cleaning, you can clear out your closets of those old sweaters you aren’t using any more and turn them into fabulous things!

From the Publisher: Make It Yourself, is typically most widely available at grocery stores and in discount stores such as Walmart. They also sell magazines in Barnes & Noble and some other bookstores, but usually you would see them most often in grocery stores—either at the checkout or where all of the magazines are together in the newsstand. The digital issue is available here.

Happy quilting….and crafting!

Quilting Magazines

MagazineValues.comI just signed up to be an affiliate with these folks at MagazineValues.com because they carry a bunch of different quilting magazines. Check out their entire list of quilting magazines by heading over to their website (just click on the image to the left). They have American Patchwork & Quilting, Fon’s & Porter’s Love of Quilting, McCall’s Quilting, and Quick Quilts….just to name a few.

I like to order a magazine for a year to check it out, then I usually switch to another one. It’s fun to receive different magazines because they each have a different style and voice. So if you are in the market for a new quilting magazine, check it out. And if you’re not ready right this instant for another magazine, I’ll have their logo and link in my website sidebar for the foreseeable future so you can always head back to my website and find it (without searching all my posts).

Happy quilting!
