Another Mint Julep hot off the press! This happy version comes from Sharon P. who sent me these photos of the Mint Julep she just finished. Beautiful! And she did a fabulous job quilting it too….bubbles, cacti, leaves….and she said there was a piece of gecko fabric in there too…..good theme! Nice job Sharon and thanks for sharing.
I love seeing what you do with my patterns, so please don’t hesitate to send me pictures of your quilts. I most likely will put them up on my blog! And then you can tell everyone your quilt is on the internet! Wooo ooooo!
The Sept/Oct issue of McCall’s Quilting Magazine is out on newstands now! And why is this important? Because my Mint Julep quilt is in this issue! Yes, I’m pretty excited about it. If you have a subscription to the magazine, you’ve probably already received yours, but if you don’t have a subscription, you can pick one up at a quilt shop or magazine vendor near you.
As with my last quilt, the folks at McCall’s Magazine have prepared kits for your shopping pleasure. This way you don’t have to worry about which fabrics to choose….they’ve done the work for you. And they have made a kit for both the green or pink colors. Pick your favorite color and dive in!
Click here for the MINT JULEP or the PINK TULIP. And send me those photos when you finish! I’d love to see how yours turns out!
Mint Julep Quilt featured in McCall’s Quilting Magazine Sept/Oct 2013 Issue
McCall’s Quilting September/October 2013 issue was just released and you’ve got to check it out. My “Mint Julep” quilt is one of the projects! As many of you know, I love green. One day I purchased almost every solid green I could get my hands on from Fabric Depot up in Portland. In my world, green is a neutral! I’m also a big fan of Kaffe Fasset fabrics and so it’s only natural that I combine the two. Kaffe fabrics are so intense and rich in color which I think plays really well with solids. I took all the fabrics and my pattern ideas up with me up to Sisters when I stayed with Sheila Sinclair Snyder for a couple days before the annual Sisters Quilt Show. We played around with the design and the Mint Julep was born! She helped me sew it together over the next day, and then home it went….and sat….until the quilting process began. And of course I had to have Sheila’s thoughts on the brainstorming process…two heads are better than one! What would I do without my quilting buddies? The final result is happy and fun and colorful!
And I guess Tracee Doran, graphic designer for McCall’s Quilting thought it was pretty cool because she whipped out one in pink….I love it! So I hope you make one too – and if you do, please send me a picture of it. I would love to showcase it on my blog!
For a limited time you can purchase the kit from McCall’s (I have no connection with them regarding their kits, I just wanted to pass along the information!):
