Modern Quilts

13 quilts to spark your creativity, build your skills, and connect you with others

Here’s what C&T has to say about this book:

• Unique, modern quilt patterns for a year of full-sized quilts. Plus, a bonus 13th quilt for an auction
• Take your quilting skills to the next level! Each monthly project lets you learn more advanced techniques
• Includes everything you need to know about organizing and running a virtual bee, including valuable advice on troubleshooting problems

Create. Grow. Connect. This how-to book features 13 projects for a virtual one-year quilting bee. Crafted with a modern aesthetic, the patterns are inspired by traditional quilt blocks as well as bits and pieces of daily life. As you quilt along with this book from month to month, you’ll master sewing techniques of increasing difficulty—from easy to advanced. Each project includes instructions for assembling the block and for finishing a full-size quilt. You’ll also find a comprehensive section on quilting basics and plenty of tips on organizing your own virtual bee.

Every year my quilt group selects a quilt design for our raffle quilt. It’s always a difficult selection process. And then the fun begins when we come together to sew it all together. We haven learned that we each sew a tad differently, and so it isn’t as easy as it seems to put together even the simplest of quilts. Funny, because we are all good sewers. But that’s the way it goes when you are working in a group. So perhaps this book will shed some light on sewing together!

Citron Logic Pattern Available on Craftsy

A cheerful yellow and white quilt, called Citron Logic is now available as a downloadable pattern from Craftsy. This two color quilt can, of course, be made in any two colors. I chose yellow and white just because it was spring and it felt bright and cheery. But any two colors would work.

This is a throw sized quilt that is 54″ x 63″ in size. It goes together quickly because one of the blocks is a rectangle. Don’t you just love that? So this would be  a good quilt if you needed something quick and easy. It would make a nice baby quilt, or a bold modern throw for a housewarming present. Any way you slice it (yes, you do need a rotary cutter), it will come out great.

What about dark gray and purple? What about red and white (and then put in one blue “hourglass” block?) What about black and white? What about green and red for the holidays? I could go on and on.

But you have sewing to do, right? Click here to purchase.

Quilting Away the Day

Getting things wrapped up for the holidays and quilts out the door. Here are a few I’ve worked on recently. I get to see such a wide range of quilt designs…so fun! I never know what my customers will come up with next.
